You will be asked to identify whether you have any of the symptoms listed below.
If you report any of those symptoms, you may also be seen by a nurse practitioner. Every patient will see a trained staff member.
During your confidential interview, staff may ask whether you have had any of the following. If you do, a nurse practitioner may see you the same day.
If you test positive for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, or Syphilis, you will need to return to the clinic for treatment. Treatment is provided to all clients who test positive, and staff will review your care plan with you at that return visit.

A visit to the BMC STD Clinic begins with a confidential, professional approach to sexual health care. Clients can receive screening and treatment for HIV, hepatitis C, syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea in a clinical setting designed to make the process feel calm and approachable. The clinic’s staff help patients understand what to expect, from scheduling and arrival through consultation, testing, and results. Appointments may be required, and visitors should review current hours before attending.
Preparing for an appointment is straightforward. Clients generally need a photo identification card and an insurance card if they have insurance. Testing for HIV, hepatitis C, syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea is free, and clients aged fourteen or older may visit regardless of immigration status, with no parental consent necessary. Bringing questions about symptoms, exposure, prevention, or medication can make the consultation more useful, especially when a patient is unsure how to describe their health history.
During the visit, medical providers and nurses perform screening, discuss symptoms and possible exposure, and determine whether diagnostic testing or treatment is appropriate. When results are positive, the clinic supports clients with treatment options, follow-up care, and guidance about notifying contacts. Services also include pre-exposure prophylaxis and post-exposure prophylaxis discussions, helping patients understand prevention choices and when urgent assessment may be appropriate for recent exposure.
Confidentiality is central to the clinic experience. Clients receive care in a professional clinical environment where conversations about sexual health, symptoms, and test results can take place respectfully. The Boston Medical Center STD Clinic serves as an accessible point of care for people who may feel uncertain about seeking testing, including those with symptoms, known exposure, or a general goal of staying current with recommended screening.
After a visit, patients typically leave with a clearer understanding of their results, any treatment that may be needed, and advice about follow-up or prevention. Providers can explain medication regimens, recommend re-testing intervals, and discuss partner services when appropriate. Because operating hours and appointment availability can change, clients are encouraged to confirm details before planning a visit and to contact the clinic if additional questions arise about testing, prevention, or next steps in care.
Our staff speak Spanish, French, Haitian Creole, and 31 additional languages through an interpreter phone, so you can complete your interview and understand your results in the language you are most comfortable with.
Walk-in testing hours run Monday to Friday, 9:00am–3:00pm, with Wednesday hours until 7:00pm.
